Remarks :
  • The work included 16 wells for piers and 3 wells for abutments of Panvel Creek Bridge (Having tidal variation of 5 m from RL-1.75 to RL+3.25)

  • The wells of pier P2 and P8 (14 wells) were constructed using floating caisson technique. Steel caissons were fabricated on bank of the creek and launched in the creek through slipway and towed to the location during high tide. Suitable anchors were provided to hold the caissons in position while in floating condition.

  • Subsequently steel shell were built up and concreting done in stages.

  • Once caisson is grounded, wells were sunk by grabbing the muck and chiseling the rock.

  • Well cap and substructure were constructed as per standard Engineering Practice

  • We used pontoon mounted cranes, excavators for dredging / sinking. The wells were sunk through marine strata and anchored into hard rock.
