The Bridge (total length 212 m) is consisting of :

Foundation :1200 mm dia Pile Foundation / Open.

Substructure : RCC

Super Structure :RCC / PSC

Span Arrangement :1 x 34 m + 1 x 22.5 m + 9 x 18 m

Width of Bridge :9 m Carriage way

Approaches :RE Structure.

Remarks :
  • The bridge is across reservoir of Chambal River. There was exposed rock at bed level and there was no overlay of soil. Blasting of rock was prohibited. The bridge is constructed in a flowing water with 3 to 10 m depth.

  • Two alternatives were worked out for carrying out foundation work. One that is by laying earthen bund and excavation in hard rock by pneumatic drills or rock excavator.

  • Alternatively 1200 mm dia piles at locations where depth of water was more and open excavation was not possible.

  • The Gorge portion of reservoir was spanned by 34 m PSC girder to eliminate foundation in gorge portion.

  • The superstructure was constructed by launching steel trusses along the span.
